Almost all types of appliances and solid manufactured items that are in use in the world today have gone through some sort of polishing and grinding to give them that smooth and shiny finish that we love to see and touch with our hands. One of the tools used to carry out such finishing is the sanding paper. The sandpaper rolls are made of abrasive or sandy material that is long lasting, high grade and durable. It is used to remove the roughness from the manufactured item to make the surface smooth and even.

These papers are made by attaching sandy grains of substances on their surface to render them rough and abrasive.  It is then used to rub off or grind away the rough edges of items being manufactured to make them smooth and fine.  The sand is adhered to the backing of cloth, paper, film, metal, or any other suitable material which comes in all kinds of shapes and sizes.  The type of abrasive grains that are used on the sandpaper rolls will determine its quality and the type of task it can do. 

Materials used for Abrasive Sand Paper Rolls: 

·         Some sand papers are made from grains of Alumina –zirconia. 

·         Others are made from the Aluminum Oxide/Ceramic sanding paper 

·         Then there are those that are from Carbon Boron Nitiride 

·         Others are Brown Aluminum Oxide Abrasive

All the above listed materials are the ones that come as sandy grains that are then attached to the sandpaper using backings of cloth, metal and other durable substances.  They are stuck to the cloth backing by adhesives and a type of glue.  The result is in the form of sheets of sandy paper that are then cut into sandpaper rolls and different shapes and sizes for the ready market. 

Types of Sandpaper Rolls and their Uses: 

Aluminum Oxide Abrasive or Sand Paper Rolls 

This product is made of grit that is of extremely strong combination backing that makes the paper able to hold up against wood floors in bad condition. Their grit are of a heavy duty E-Weight paper backing which is both durable and tough enough to handle the finishing sanding needed by wood floors.

·         Made of Aluminum Oxide abrasive 

·         Bonding of Resin upon layer of resin 

·         It is applied on grinding for automotive and furniture industry on machinery and vibration sanders.  It can come in the form of adhesive or on a Velcro disc in roll sizes of 25 – 840 mm and a length of 25000 – 50000

Abrasive Paper Roll /Abrasive Paper Belt 

·         The sandpaper rolls are made of high strength paper as backing with epoxy resin or synthetic resin are being used as the adhesive.   

·         Brown Aluminum Oxide and White Aluminum Oxide are the materials used as abrasive grain. 

·         The paper backing has a thickness that can be transformed into abrasive paper belt in the shape of a ring or roll. 

The sandpaper rolls have the coating density that are categorized as: close, semi-open and open.
